Regional Spotlight - Connecticut Home Sales Up 4%

August 28, 2009 - A recent article posted online on announced single-family home sales in Connecticut up 4% in July 2009, this is the first increase in home sales year-over-year in two years. The last recorded slight increase in Connecticut home sales was July 2007. Single-family home sales reached 2,947 for the month of July 2009, up from 2,834 the previous year. Although Connecticut median home prices are still declining at over 10% per month, the increase in number of monthly sales can be a sign of things turning around for the local real estate market in Connecticut.

The largest jump in home sales was seen in the counties of Tolland and Windham which increased by more than 50% in July compared to the same month last year. Condominium sales are down just over 7% year on year but is an improvement when compared to the first six month of 2009.

The average single family home price for the state of Connecticut in July 2009 was $255,000 and $180,000 for Condominiums.
