Help-U-Sell Real Estate Office Fundraiser Nets 4,000 Meals for Hungry People and Pets

Waynesboro, Va. – Take a passion for charity work and melt it with a love of craft projects, pour it into a mold and let it set, and the result will be Kimberly Zelena’s Candles 4 Canned Goods fundraiser.

Zelena, owner of Help-U-Sell Direct Savings Real Estate, kicked off the fundraising program in September with a goal of raising enough money to buy 4,000 meals for local people and animals in need. She reached her goal last week with the assistance of her colleagues at Help-U-Sell® Real Estate during the company’s Success Summit in Anaheim, Calif.

"I was surprised and overwhelmed by the generosity of the Help-U-Sell Real Estate franchisees from across the United States,” Zelena said. “With the help of corporate Help-U-Sell Real Estate staff and the franchisees, I met my goal of 4,000 meals by Thanksgiving. What a great feeling to know that more humans and animals will not go hungry this Thanksgiving."

All of the proceeds received from the sale of Zelena’s beeswax tapers and fluted candles go toward purchasing canned food items for needy families and for animal charities. The beeswax candles are 8” tall and come in a variety of colors, including multiple hues. A set of two candles is only $6, and $1 provides four meals at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

“One set of candles buys 24 meals,” Zelena said. “That is more than a week’s worth of meals with one candle set purchase.”

Zelena has set a new goal of raising enough money to buy 6,000 meals by Christmas. Candles can be purchased by calling the Help-U-Sell Direct Savings Real Estate at 540-949-4357, emailing candles4cannedgoods@gmail.com or stopping by the office, located at 362 S. Laurel Ave., Waynesboro, Va.

Help-U-Sell Direct Savings Real Estate has been in business for more than six years and is a fee-for-service real estate agency.
